(Jefferson, IA) — Its the regular season finale for Harlan as they visit Greene County. The Cyclones have not clinched a playoff spot and even with a win they have not clinched anything. If Harlan wins and Carroll beats Atlantic, the Cyclones will be the #2 seed in District 6. If Harlan wins and Atlantic wins, it will be a three way tie for the district title and it will come down to the tiebreakers. If Harlan loses, it will not look good.
Head Coach Todd Bladt is not worried about playoff scenarios — he wants his offense to have an identity against the Rams. Harlan has been using a by committee approach in the running game and Bladt likes the combination of Brody Bendorf and Levi Shields in the backfield
The offense got a shot in the arm when Colton Schneider came back to the team at tight end and receiver — the Senior was playing Fall Baseball but returned for district games and broke out last week against Atlantic with 5 catches for 124 yards and 2 TD. Meanwhile, Junior QB Kreed Boggess has not lit the stat sheet on fire but Bladt says he is developing confidence running the offense
Greene County has lost three in a row to Carroll, Atlantic and 13-9 last week against Creston. Senior WR Jaron Jacobs has 48 catches for 460 yards and 4 TD. Senior Trevon Keely has 15 catches for 252 and 4 scores. Sophomore Joseph Higgins has taken over at QB mid season and thrown for 842 yards, 6 TD and 4 INT. Bladt says the Rams have weapons.
4-4 Harlan visits 3-5 Greene County.
