(Des Moines) Iowa is expected to see a sharp change in weather this week, with unusually warm temperatures to start the week followed by rain chances and cooler conditions.
Monday’s temperatures could approach record levels in parts of the state. The National Weather Service says the best chances for precipitation will arrive Tuesday night and continue through Thursday, with the potential for a strong storm, particularly in southern Iowa Tuesday night.
Temperatures are expected to drop substantially late in the week, with frost possible as early as Friday night.
The changing weather could also affect farmers during the ongoing harvest season. Wet conditions in the middle of the week, followed by cooler temperatures and stronger winds, could impact fieldwork and travel on rural roads.
Dry weather returns by the end of the week and looks to stick around for quite some time.
