(Huxley, IA) — Atlantic and Nodaway Valley both competed in a Cross Country meet on Monday hosted by Ballard.
Mason Betts had a solid 2nd place finish for Atlantic with a time of 17:06.6 and was only 6 seconds behind the winner Cooper Briggs of Des Moines Roosevelt at 17:00.3. The Trojans were in the Class A bracket and both the girls and boys were 4th out of 6 teams.
Also for the Atlantic boys: Gage Schroeder 25th (19:04.6); Deklyn Kinney 26th (19:09.2); Caleb Andersen 33rd (19:22.3); John McCurdy 62nd. There were 140 runners in the Class A Boys.
For the Trojan girls: Kaitlyn Hickman had the best finish in 14th place (21:46.4) while Gabrielle Engler was 16th (21:51.1). Lucy Northwick was 21st (22:29.0); Ximena Mendez-Cordero 36th; Saige Coffman 37th; Cambry Van Ert 39th. There were 81 girls in the race.
Nodaway Valley boys were in 2nd place in Class B with 89 points while Pella Christian won with 35 points.
Gabe Winkelman led the Wolverines in 7th place at 17:35.6. Paul Kading was 16th (18:18.6); Josh Nelson was 18th (18:21.6); Luke Kading 22nd (18:29.6); and Haden Colten was 26th (18:44.1).
For the girls, Abby Nelson was 17th (22:52.5); Bailey Breheny was 41st.
