(Cass Co.) The Cass County Board of Supervisors this morning approved a resolution establishing speed limits on certain county roads.
Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken conducted an engineering and traffic investigation of roads that currently do not have posted speed limits. The investigation determined that existing conditions on some of the roads warrant setting a speed limit lower than the maximum allowed on roadways without a restricted speed limit.
The evaluation was conducted in part due to the law that took effect July 1 that changed certain roadways to a 60 mph speed limit.
The following three roads will be set at a 45 mile per hour speed limit:
-Glendale Road (G27) from Iowa 148 east to the Adair County line
-Oxford Road (G43) from US Highway 71 east to 690th Street (N28)
-590th Street from Iowa 92 north 1 1/2 miles to the end of the pavement.
The speed limits will go into effect when appropriate signs notifying motorists of the speed limits are erected on the affected portions of the secondary roadways.
