(Miami, FL) — Its cut time for NFL teams and the Miami Dolphins have shuffled their quarterback room releasing former Iowa Hawkeye Mark Gronowski and Solon, IA native Cam Miller on Sunday. On Saturday, the Dolphins traded injured back-up Quinn Ewers to Jacksonville for a draft pick then on Sunday acquired Kyle McCord from Green Bay for a draft pick. According to media reports, Head Coach Jeff Hafley has indicated that he will keep two quarterbacks on the active roster with starter Malik Willis safe in his role.
Gronowski was the starter for Iowa last season and signed as a non drafted free agent with the Dolphins. He was released in early August and then brought back after Ewers went down with an injury. Gronowski saw action in the final two pre-season games but did not impress — against the New York Giants he was 2 of 5 passing for 1 yard and against Atlanta he was 4 of 8 passing for 97 yards. Gronowski is now a free agent and can sign with any team.
In the first pre-season game, Miller was 3 of 11 passing for 39 yards and 2 INT. Against the Giants in game two, Miller was only 6 of 11 passing for 60 yards. In the final game versus the Falcons, Miller was 7 of 16 for 71 yards. The Dolphins were 0-3 in the pre-season.
Miller is from Solon which is north of Iowa City and won 2 FCS national titles at North Dakota St. He was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 6th round of the 2025 draft and spent the entire season on the practice squad. The Dolphins signed him on January 1st of this year. Miller is now a free agent and can sign with any team.
