(Logan, IA) — Crosby Yoder is only 5’6″ but he was huge on Friday night leading Logan Magnolia past AHSTW 26-20 in a Class A Non District football game.
Yoder scored a touchdown on offense, on defense and his 83 yard kickoff return for a TD was the difference in the game to give the Panthers the win.
The Vikings scored first, taking the ball down the field on their opening drive, going 12 plays and Taylen Hansen capped it with a 3 yard TD run to make it 7-0.
Lo Ma went 3 and out and only had a 12 yard punt giving the Vikings the ball at their own 47 yard line. However, Dayton Osbahr threw an interception to Liam Lease. The Panthers still could not pick up a first down and punted it back but this time they pinned the Vikings on their own 12. Eventually, Osbahr was intercepted again this time by Max Wingert and he returned it 18 yards for a TD to tie the game at 7-7 at the 1:13 mark of the first quarter.
Neither team could score in the 2nd quarter — Osbahr got his 3rd INT of the game but this one on a tipped ball. Lo Ma QB Ashton Peszulik also threw an interception but it was all tied 7-7 at halftime.
Logan Magnolia took the opening drive of the 2nd half quickly downfield as Peszulik connected with Yoder for 39 yards and then found him for a 15 yard TD pass — the extra point was missed to make it 13-7.
AHSTW used some trick-er-ation to come back — Osbahr lateralled it to Hansen who threw a 43 yard TD pass to a wide open Andrew Lund — the snap on the extra point was muffed and it was tied at 13-13.
On the Panthers next drive, they moved it down the field mostly on the ground with Peszulik leading the way and eventually Yoder ran around the edge and got the ball in the end zone on a 5 yard run as Lo Ma regained a 20-13 lead with 2:56 to go in the third quarter.
The Vikings went back to work and after Osbahr got hurt, Hansen came in at QB, converted a 4th and 8 on a 13 yard pass to Evan Harder. Then he threw a 33 yard TD pass to Cooper Robinson to tie the game at 20-20.
On the ensuing kickoff, Yoder took the ball and found an opening on the outside and took it to the house — 83 yards for the go ahead TD. AHSTW could not recover.
