(Crescent) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors approved vacating a portion of Lombardy Road at its meeting Tuesday morning.
Crescent Mayor Chuck Hildreth provided the board with an update on the city’s new sewer system project. The city has selected FlowPoint, a Canadian company, for the new sewer system. The more efficient and cost-effective system will be located near the current lagoons west of town. The container-style system will treat wastewater to meet EPA standards before it flows into Pigeon Creek.
As part of the planning and design process for the new system, Hildreth asked the supervisors for permission to vacate a portion of Lombardy Road.
He said that if the road is vacated, the city’s property line would extend to the center of Lombardy Road, eliminating the need to move the location of the plant.
County Engineer Andy Wicks explained that a waiver has been submitted to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, giving the city a couple of options.
In the end, knowing the City of Crescent is ready to move forward with the project, the supervisors approved vacating a portion of Lombardy Road from the railroad tracks east to just west of Pigeon Creek.
