(Red Oak) The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved the creation of a temporary part-time Veterans Affairs Clerk Position at Tuesday morning’s meeting.
The Veterans Affairs Commission has identified the need for additional support staff to ensure continued high-quality services to county veterans. Supervisor Alex Burton read the resolution stating that the Veterans Director requested a part-time clerk position to assist with administrative duties, client intake, benefits coordination, recordkeeping, and general support for departmental operations.
The part-time position is intended to serve as a succession planning measure.
The part-time clerk will work under the supervision of the Veterans Affairs Director and work up to 20 hours per week. The position will be reviewed at regular intervals for continuation, conversion to permanent status, or appointment, at the discretion of the board of supervisors, based on budgetary needs and employee performance.
The part-time clerk will receive $20.00 per hour and will be raised to $22.00 per hour upon completion of a required Veterans Affairs Certification. The job opening starts immediately.
