(Lewis) Iowa State Extension offices offer the Master Conservationist Program at a few locations each year.
DNR Fisheries Biologist John Lorenzen, appearing on the KSOM DNR report, says the program consists of about 12 hours of online curriculum and several in-person, in-the-field meetings.
Lorenzen will lead a demonstration on aquatic ecosystems.
The other topics include prairies, forests, watersheds, and geology, as well as implementing conservation practices and educating others about conservation.
Lorenzen says local extension offices may offer this someday, so check out your local extension service website for a future class that may be held in your county.
