Wes Enos Running In State Senate Race
(Des Moines, IA) — There’s a new Republican candidate in the Iowa Senate District 23 race. Former Bondurant City Council member Wes Enos replaces Michael Bousselot on the November ballot. Bousselot dropped out of the race last week to pursue a private business opportunity. Enos, who was also Iowa Congressman Zach Nunn’s former chief of staff, finished behind Bousselot in June’s Republican Iowa primary for the District 23 seat. District 23 covers north and east Polk County and parts of eastern Dallas County.
Iowa DNR Investigating Fuel Spill Related To Large Salvage Yard Fire In DeSoto Wednesday
(DeSoto, IA) — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a fuel spill after a salvage yard fire that injured one person Wednesday. Fire crews from eight agencies responded to the large fire at about 10 a.m. The DNR says it was notified of an unknown amount of fuel, oil, and water that spilled into Bulger Creek due to the fire. The DNR worked with local officials to place absorbent booms at the Creek to keep the fuel mixture from heading downstream into the Raccoon River.
Iowa First In Nation To Get Federal Approval For At-Home Addiction Treatment
(Des Moines, IA) — Iowa is the first state in the nation to get federal approval for an at-home addiction treatment program. Through a partnership with the federal government, the program will allow eligible Iowa families to receive substance abuse treatment at home. State officials say that will help keep families together rather than children being placed in foster care while parents seek out-of-home treatment. Data from Iowa Health and Human Services indicates that substance abuse was a factor in three thousand Iowa children being removed from their homes last year.
Study: Hinterland Tickets Second Most Inflated Festival Tickets Nationwide
(St. Charles, IA) — A new study finds the price of tickets to the Hinterland Music Festival in St. Charles are among the most inflated in the country. Hard Rock Bet analyzed the price of general admission tickets to 31 of the biggest music festivals in the country from 2015 to 2026. The study finds the general admission ticket price to the Hinterland Music Festival rose 244-percent during that time, from 45-dollars in 2015 to 155-dollars this year. That’s the second highest price increase on the list.
