(Boone Co.) One person was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Boone County Sunday evening.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 9:23 p.m. on Story Street in Boone. A 2019 Jeep Renegade, driven by 45-year-old Joshua Burns of Boone, was traveling southbound in the 1500 block of Story Street when the Jeep went off the curb on the west side of the road and into the ditch. The Jeep then returned to the roadway and struck a 2020 Ford Edge head-on in the northbound lane near the intersection of Story Street and Kate Shelley Drive.
Burns was killed in the accident.
The driver of the Ford Edge, 27-year-old Jessica Slaton of Madrid, was not injured. Two children in Slaton’s vehicle were injured. A 3-year-old child was airlifted to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 7-month-old child was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital.
