(Des Moines) The price of regular unleaded gasoline remained unchanged this week, averaging $3.79 per gallon across Iowa, according to AAA.
The Iowa average is up 91 cents from a year ago, while the national average fell four cents from last week to $4.04 per gallon.
Iowa diesel prices dropped six cents this week to an average of $5.05 per gallon. That is $1.50 higher than the price a year ago, but 31 cents below the national diesel average of $5.36.
Crude oil prices increased sharply this week. West Texas Intermediate rose $7.62 per barrel to $83.23, while Brent crude increased $9.36 to $88.88. A year ago, WTI was priced at $64.22 per barrel and Brent was $66.80.
Natural gas prices also increased, rising 11 cents at the Henry Hub to $2.80 per million British thermal units.
AAA will resume reporting Iowa retail heating oil and propane prices in October.
