(Des Moines, IA) — The Iowa State Fair is one week away and Des Moines Police say they are ready to keep fairgoers safe. Up to 50 officers are on duty during any 24 hour period during the fair.
Sergeant Paul Parizek says preparations for policing around the fairgrounds started 11 months ago.
Policing the actual fairgrounds is the responsibility of the Iowa State Fair Police Department. They work with assistance from the Iowa State Patrol.
