(Des Moines) The annual Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show will be held Saturday, August 15, during the Iowa State Fair, highlighting Iowa’s cattle industry while raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa.
The event, hosted by Governor Kim Reynolds and coordinated by the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and Iowa Beef Industry Council, will feature 25 show teams made up of youth participants and celebrity showmen.
The show begins at 4:30 p.m. at Pioneer Pavilion, followed by a live steer auction at the Penningroth Center.
The Governor’s Charity Steer Show has raised more than $6 million since it began in 1983, including a record $569,000-plus raised last year. Proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald Houses in Des Moines, Iowa City and Sioux City, which provide lodging and support for families of seriously ill or hospitalized children.
Donations can be made online or through sponsorships and the steer auction.
