(Atlantic) During his report to the City Council Wednesday evening, Atlantic Mayor Rob Clausen spoke about the new yellow yard signs that some residents may see popping up around town.
Clausen said this had an 82-percent success rate. He said the program has reduced the amount of abatement money by nearly 30 percent, saving both taxpayer dollars and city employee time.
Clausen also reminded residents about several upcoming events in Atlantic, including AtlanticFest on Saturday.
The following weekend will feature the annual AHS Alumni Smackdown Golf Tournament and Community Concert.
Clausen also congratulated the Cass County Fair Board and Grounds Committee on another successful fair. He also congratulated Fair Royalty Colin Rudy and Clara Kennedy.
During the City Council reports, Councilman Jeremy Butler noted that the city is bringing back its community improvement award signs.
Butler said there are two signs, which will be rotated around the community. The signs will remain on a property for one month.
