IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa senior Gable Mitchell was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the sixth round of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft. Mitchell was the 193rd overall pick.
Mitchell is the 38th player drafted under head coach Rick Heller.
The Iowa City, Iowa, native earned second-team All-Big Ten honors after starting 56 games and batting .360 with 82 hits, 59 runs scored and 43 RBIs. The senior also earned All-Big Ten Defensive Team recognition after committing just one error in 207 chances.
Mitchell appeared in 199 games during his Hawkeye career, making 172 starts. He finished with 156 runs scored, 218 hits and 135 RBIs.
Iowa concluded the 2026 season with a 33-23 overall record and advanced to the Big Ten Tournament for the 11th consecutive season.
