(Avoca, IA) — Its a Western Iowa Conference baseball showdown tonight as Audubon visits AHSTW, coverage on KSOM and Western Iowa Today TV.
Audubon comes in with a record of 2-9 after falling to IKM Manning last night 11-6 — they lost to the Vikings on May 28 7-0. They are led by the Miller twins who are both 8th graders and both are making an immediate impact. Dawson Miller is the leading hitter for the Wheelers with a .417 average while Dalton is hitting .261. Dawson is also leading the pitchers with a 2.76 ERA in five appearances with one start while Dalton has a 3.87 ERA in two starts and three overall appearances. Audubon Head Coach Eric Borkowski says they keep getting better
Borkowski wants his hitters to cut back the strikeouts and stop second guessing themselves — they are young with just two seniors Brody Schultes and Walker Vetter and one junior Garrett Vorm. As they are near the midway point and start seeing conference teams again, Borkowski wants his team to compete
AHSTW comes in at 5-6 after falling to East Sac County last night 9-6 — the Vikings had a wild 17-16 win over Tri Center on Tuesday using a 12 run 2nd inning. Head Coach Trey Brix says there was some learning for his young team out of that game
Senior Calvin Parker is leading the bats at .316; Senior Cash Freeman is hitting .296; Sophomore Cam Dresen has a 3.79 ERA in two starts and five overall appearances; 8th grader Taylen Hansen is making a big impact with 3.50 ERA in three starts. Brix says he is a great athlete
Its senior night in Avoca — the Vikings have four (Parker, Freeman, Chase Wheatley and Ty Nelson). Audubon visits AHSTW, first pitch 7:30 pm, coverage on 96.5 FM KSOM and video at Western Iowa Today TV.
