(Lyon Co.) One person was killed in a car versus train accident in Lyon County Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:33 p.m. on 110th Street, west of Dogwood Avenue. Authorities say a 2026 Ford F-350 was traveling westbound on 110th Street when it failed to yield to a southbound BNSF train. The train collided with the truck at the crossing, causing the vehicle to roll and catch fire. The driver of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation. The victim’s name has not yet been released pending identification and notification of family.
