(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council will act on a resolution appointing Maggie Robinson as the Atlantic Parks & Recreation Director on Wednesday.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund said during discussion on the FY 2027 budget, the City Council chose to move forward with the hiring of a Parks Director. The Personnel & Finance Committee oversaw the process. A stand-out candidate emerged early, and an offer was made and accepted.
Maggie Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in Park and Recreation Management from Northwest Missouri State University and an MBA from the University of Vermont. She has extensive experience leading community programs focused on workforce development, youth enrichment, and outdoor recreation, including managing staff, securing grants, building partnerships, and overseeing program operations. Robinson has also led youth and afterschool programs and organized recreational and camp activities. A graduate of Atlantic High School who grew up on an Iowa farm, she brings strong knowledge of the local community and rural values, along with endorsements from parks and recreation leaders Roger Herring and Dan Haynes.
The Council will also act on setting Robinson’s compensation and benefits for FY 2026.
The other action item on the agenda is adopting an agreement under Iowa Code Chapter 28E between the Atlantic Volunteer Fire Department, the City of Atlantic, and Grove Township to provide fire protection services within Grove Township.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the City Council Chambers at the Atlantic City Hall.
