(Council Bluffs) Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a Nebraska man in connection with a stabbing that occurred earlier this week in Council Bluffs.
According to the Council Bluffs Police Department, a Pottawattamie County arrest warrant was issued on March 13, 2026, for Christopher D. Harper, 43, of Omaha, Nebraska. Harper is charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, a Class C felony.
The charge stems from an incident reported on March 11 at approximately 5:04 p.m. Police and fire personnel were dispatched to the 10 block of Bluff Street after receiving a report of a cutting.
Investigators say the altercation began when a man riding a bicycle cut in front of a vehicle, prompting a verbal exchange between the bicyclist and the occupants of the vehicle. During the confrontation, Alan VanHeusen, 45, who was a passenger in the vehicle, got out and began fighting with the bicyclist.
During the fight, VanHeusen was cut in the right leg. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived and has not yet been located.
VanHeusen was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
