(Woodbine, IA) — Woodbine Boys Basketball will be looking for a return trip to the Casey’s Center when the face Madrid in the Substate Finals tomorrow night.
The Tigers have been through an up and down season and their 16-8 record might be a little deceiving. While Junior Landon Blum (20.1 ppg) has not missed a game, Head Coach Kyle Bartels says other key players have dealt with a variety of injuries.
Another player who has missed some time is freshman Braden Berry who has played in just 9 games but has started 6 of them and is averaging 4.1 ppg. Bartels says he is a great defender
Madrid is 20-4 and is the defending state champion going 28-0 last year. The Tigers are led by Sophomore Jevyn Severson who averages 24.8 points per game which mostly come in the paint and Bartels says he is very athletic
Woodbine faces Madrid at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, tip off at 5:30 pm.
