(Griswold) The Cass County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release on Tuesday afternoon that one person died in a house fire in Griswold early this morning. Fire crews from Griswold, Lewis, and Cumberland were dispatched to the blaze at 68444 560th St., near Griswold. When they arrived, the residence was fully engulfed in flames and beginning to collapse.
After extinguishing the fire, responders discovered one deceased individual inside the home. The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze. The victim’s name has not been released pending an autopsy and notification of next of kin.
