(Des Moines) A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for portions of central, north central, and northeast Iowa until 9 a.m. CST this morning, as snow continues to fall across the region. The area counties in the warning include Audubon, Cass, Carroll, Crawford, and Guthrie.
Forecasters say additional accumulations of up to one inch are possible before the system moves out. While snowfall totals may be relatively light, road conditions are expected to deteriorate, making travel very difficult — especially during the morning commute.
Drivers are urged to use caution and plan for extra time if heading out. Hazardous road conditions could lead to delays and reduced visibility in some areas.
Anyone who must travel should keep an emergency kit in their vehicle, including a flashlight, food, and water, in case they become stranded.
For the latest information on road conditions, motorists can check the Iowa 511 app, visit www.511ia.org, or dial 511 before setting out.
