(Atlantic) Atlantic High School students will take the stage on November 14, 15, and 16, for the fall musical production, “Mean Girls.”
Mark Andersen, Directing the Musical, says the production tells the story of Cady, a new student from Africa, who enrolls at North Shore High as she navigates the complex world of teenage cliques known as the “Plastics.”
Andersen says the story begins as an attempt to fit in, soon spiraling into a battle for popularity against Regina George, the school’s infamous “Queen Bee.” Along the way, Cady learns valuable lessons about friendship, honesty, and the consequences of her choices.
Andersen says the production involves more than 40 members, including a diverse group of students.
Andersen says he hopes the audience leaves the show reflecting on the question the production poses: “How much am I represented in this story?”
Performances will take place in the Atlantic High School Auditorium on Friday, November 14, and Saturday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, November 16, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 for all attendees for the Friday and Saturday Shows. Thanks to the continued generosity of the Avery Andersen Foundation, admission to the Sunday afternoon performance will be free for all members of the community.
