Class 3A
#1 Hull Western Christian 3, #8 Mount Vernon 0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-16)
Scarlett Winterfield led the Wolfpack with 12 kills with a .321 hitting percentage — Bentley Bliek and Maddyn De Jager each contributed 7 kills apiece. Maggie Van Schepen had 35 assists and Western is now 37-9. The Mustangs end their season at 23-15.
#2 Davenport Assumption 3, #7 Mid Prairie 0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-5)
Ellah Derrer led Assumption’s balanced attack with 16 kills and a .519 hitting percentage, while Erin Robbins added 10 kills on .412 efficiency. Carsyn Kelley dished out 33 assists and contributed defensively with eight digs and a block. The Knights hit .245 as a team and finished with eight total blocks. Mid-Prairie struggled to find consistency at the net, hitting just -.041 overall and falls to 30-10. The Knights are now 25-7.
#5 Humboldt 3, #4 Cherokee 0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-21)
The Wildcats (32-6) were efficient on offense, hitting .345 as a team and getting balanced contributions across the lineup. Adelynn Goodell led Humboldt with 14 kills, while Kendall Works and Mia Schluter each added 12. Setter Addie Waldorf dished out 39 assists to guide the attack. Defensively, libero Claire Dieleman anchored the back row with 12 digs, and Humboldt posted a strong .940 serve-receive percentage as a team. Works and Schluter were also forces at the net, combining for several key points in the front row. Cherokee ends their season at 29-8.
#6 Kuemper Catholic 3, #3 Red Oak 1 (25-27, 25-17, 25-16, 25-22)
The Knights avenged a 5 set loss to the Tigers in the regular season by winning in four at the state tournament. KC had a balanced offensive attack with 10 kills from three different players — Brianna Wittrock, Kolbi Peter and Mariah Heuton. Elsa Tiefenthaler and Addy Anthofer each added 8 kills and each had 15 digs. The Tigers were led by Jocelyn O’Neal with 20 kills but Red Oak’s season ends at 38-3. Kuemper is now 32-2 and will face #2 Davenport Assumption in the 3A Semifinals on Wednesday at 2:25 pm.
Class 2A
#1 Denver 3, #8 Wapsie Valley 0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-17)
The Cyclones cruised into the Semifinals — Denver (48-1) hit an impressive .370 as a team and controlled the match from start to finish. Bailey Mullihan led Denver with 11 kills, while Adeana Murch added nine and Mylee Thurn chipped in seven. Setter Channing Johnson distributed 28 assists and contributed 11 digs to pace the Cyclone offense. Denver also dominated at the net with nine team blocks. Wapsie Valley ended their season at 24-18.
#2 Dike New Hartford 3, #7 Aplington Parkersburg 0 (25-9, 28-26, 25-21)
Senior standout Abby Jensen led D-NH’s attack with 17 kills and a .280 hitting percentage, while Keely Kauten added 12 kills on an impressive .524 clip. Rylee Reicks chipped in eight kills, and setter Kailyn Meester tallied 35 assists as the Wolverines hit .286 as a team. Defensively, Aubrey Asche anchored the back row with 16 digs. The Wolverines are now 39-9 while the Falcons end their season at 28-11
#4 Grundy Center 3, #5 Beckman Catholic 2 (20-25, 10-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-13)
The Spartans had one of best comebacks in state volleyball history. After trailing 22-14 in the third set, Grundy Center mounted a comeback behind strong hitting from Ryanne Brubaker, who led the Spartans with 22 kills, and Jenna Blythe, who added 17. Charlee Kirkpatrick contributed nine kills and two blocks, while Lauren Zajac totaled 30 assists. Libero Raelyn Steinmeyer recorded 20 digs to anchor the defense. Beckman Catholic ends their season at 32-8 while Grundy Center is now 36-9
#3 Hinton 3, #6 Iowa City Regina 1 (25-18, 25-17, 20-25, 25-23)
Bailey Boeve dominated for the Blackhawks with 28 kills on the night and a .375 hitting percentage. Reese Naeve for the Regals also had a big game with 29 kills but Regina ends their season at 30-14 while Hinton advances with a 29-2 record.
Class 1A
#1 Saint Ansgar 3, #8 East Mills 0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-18)
Lindsay Kruse had 15 kills and Jacey Johnson pounded 13 kills to lead the Saints to the three game sweep. Sofia Parrott had 35 assists and Ava Falk and Kruse each had 4 aces. Brooke Jones led the Wolverines with 7 kills in a losing effort and finished the season at 33-5. Saint Ansgar advances with a 29-4 record.
#2 Janesville 3, #7 Gladbrook Reinbeck 1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18)
Janesville (32-11) was led by Keke Smith’s 11 kills, while Hayden Anderson added 10 and Quinn Sweeney notched nine. Setter Tayah Pollock handed out 39 assists and Hayden Anderson anchored the defense with 25 digs as the Wildcats totaled 85 as a team. The Rebels finished 27-14.
#3 North Tama 3, #6 Sidney 0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-23)
Kruiz Ewoldt powered the Redhawks with 15 kills to lead the attack, while Lily Sell added 14 and Isabelle Gropper dished out 21 assists. Sidney was led by Keyana Haggerty and Alyssa Melvin, who each finished with seven kills. With the victory, North Tama improved to 29–13 and advances to face second-ranked Janesville in Wednesday’s Class 1A semifinals at 6:25 p.m. Sidney ends its season at 22–10.
#4 Dunkerton 3, #5 BCLUW 2 (25-20, 25-17, 17-25, 22-25, 15-8)
Kylee Pexa powered the Raiders with 21 kills, while Taylor Kipp and Daisey Fetkether added 14 kills apiece; Dunkerton finished with nine total blocks and hit .241 as a team. Grace Farnsworth led BCLUW with 19 kills, and Olivia Peters added 15. Dunkerton (30–11) moves on to face top-ranked Saint Ansgar in Wednesday’s 1A semifinals at 6:00 p.m. BCLUW, last year’s 1A runners-up, bows out at 36–9.
