(Treynor, IA) — Lilli Denton won the girls cross country meet hosted by Treynor on Tuesday but it was the hometown team with half of the top 10 finishers to take the team title. Woodbine had 4 top 20 finishers to win the boys competition while Logan Magnolia’s Landon Thayer got the individual top finish.
Denton won by over a minute and a half with a time of 18:46.18 ahead of Lily Miller of Treynor at 20:13.03. Allysen Johnsen of Logan Magnolia was 3rd (20:35.78) and Anne Miller of Treynor was 4th (20:54.42). Treynor’s Madalyn Kerkmann was 6th at 21:44.67, Lilly Yochum was 8th (22:35.52) and Madaline Knispel was 9th (22:54.19).
Tri Center’s top girls runner was Reese Dittmer in 12th (23:11.08) and the Trojans had five in the top 20.
Other local performances included Megan Gerlock of CAM in 53rd (37:38.13); Michelle Wilson of Exira EHK was 18th (23:46.87); Josie Millikan of Griswold was 39th (29:36.50) and Ali Pattee was the only runner for Underwood in 37th (29:05.89).
On the boys side, Thayer of Lo Ma was the winner (17:28.63) ahead of Aiden Summerfield of Woodbine (17:41.71). Dane Gorham of Boyer Valley was 3rd (18:02.43); Jackson Walter of St. Albert 4th (18:35.66) and Evan Wham of Tri Center (18:38.72) rounded out the top five.
For Woodbine, Brody Cogdill was 10th, Vincent Meisinger 13th, Blaze Pryor 18th and Corey Wagner 22nd to lead them to the team title.
Other local performances included Dustin McCurdy of CAM in 61st (27:21.08); Austin Rasmussen of Exira EHK was in the top 10 in 8th (18:58.18); Brayden Lockwood had a solid 15th place finish (20:30.78) and for Underwood Landon Leaders was 16th (20:36.32) and Jason Thomas 17th (20:37.89).
