(Des Moines, IA) — One person is dead after a hit-and-run incident in Des Moines escalated into a fatal shooting. Police say a 30-year-old man was shot and killed after brandishing a baseball bat at two people. The man was accompanying the alleged driver who had caused a car accident just moments before. A 21-year-old man told police he was fearful of the person with the baseball bat and shot him out of self-defense. Police have not filed any charges at this time.
