(Madison County, IA) — Two people were killed in a traffic accident in Madison County on Thursday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol says that a 2009 Grand Marquis Merc was driving northbound on Earlham Road and a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix was travelling southbound on the same road. The Grand Marquis was at a high rate of speed and lost control, turning sideways in the middle of the road and struck the Pontiac. The driver and passenger of the Pontiac were both ejected from the vehicle and died from their injuries on the scene. They have been identified as 55 year old Kurtis James Hanner of Stuart, IA and 56 year old Rodney Eugene Jones of Casey, IA. The driver of Grand Marquis has been identified as Jewel Ann Clark of Winterset, IA and was transported by Madison County EMS to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines with serious injuries. The Madison County Sheriff’s office assisted the Iowa State Patrol.
