(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved lending $250,000 to Anita Economic Development for their housing development project.
Anita Economic Development is working to transform a property that was formerly a run-down trailer park into a new housing development area. The group currently has five lots and is utilizing the Homes for Iowa program. Each home will be 1,200 square feet, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The houses will be built on a crawlspace foundation and will include a detached two-car garage.
The Supervisors agreed to lend $250,000 at zero percent interest from the Valley Business Park Economic Development Fund, with a maximum repayment period of two years. Darrell Hockenberry said they have their application prepared to order two homes, but they will not need the money immediately.
Hockenberry said CADCO is also providing $100,000 interest-free to help fund the project.
