(Guthrie Center, IA) — After three straight losses to start the season, AC/GC has recovered to win three in a row to get back to the .500 mark. Last night, the Chargers beat Griswold 13-1 in five innings. Noah Kading went 1-3 with a double, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored. Jackson Pfrang went 2-3 with a double, 4 RBI and a run scored. On the mound, Blaize Dorsey threw 5 innings, allowed 1 ER on 4 hits with 2 walks, 2 HBP and 4 strikeouts but got the win. Head Coach Nick McCool says they are still trying to work on some things
AC/GC is getting tremendous production out of the Skram brothers — Junior Tommy Skram is batting .444 with 6 stolen bases and has started two games on the mound and gotten a win. His younger brother is 8th grader Will who is batting .400. McCool was expecting Tommy to be a contributor but getting Will going so quickly is a bonus
Right now the leaders in the West Central Conference are Pleasantville and Van Meter. Des Moines Christian and Interstate 35 only have lost one conference game and its a scramble after that. McCool hopes his team can be in the mix because the competition is fierce
The Chargers next three opponents are in the West Central, hosting 2-5 West Central Valley tonight (Friday night); then host Woodward Granger Monday, visit Madrid Tuesday.
