(Atlantic) Atlantic extended its dual record to 12-2 with commanding victories over Harlan and Denison-Schleswig in a Hawkeye Ten Conference boys’ triangular on Thursday. The Trojans delivered dominant performances in both matchups. They defeated Harlan 59-17, winning 10 of the 14 matches, and followed up with an impressive 61-18 victory over Denison-Schleswig, claiming 11 of 14 matches. The Trojans started strong in their dual against Harlan. Carter Hadley (132) kicked things off with a major decision, followed by Aiden Smith (138), who received a forfeit. D’Artagnan Hansen (144) secured a win by fall to extend the lead to 16-0. Harlan’s Brody McKinley (150) responded with a pin, but Atlantic’s Dreven Smith (160) won by forfeit to give the Trojans a 22-6 advantage.
Chayton Snethen (165) brought Harlan closer with a pin, narrowing the margin to 22-12. However, Atlantic sealed the victory with five consecutive wins. Callan Kluever (175) won by forfeit, Donovan Hedrington (190) earned a major decision, and Travin Thomas (215) secured a decision. The Trojans capped the dual with falls from Evan Sorensen (285), Keaton Schroeder (106), Collin Harris (113), and Braxton Hass (120). Harlan’s Jesse Jens concluded the match with a technical fall.
Aiden Smith (138) jumpstarted the Trojans in their second match against Denison-Schleswig with a technical fall. D’Artagnan Hansen (144), Jayden Harter (150), and Dreven Smith (157) followed with falls, propelling Atlantic to an early 20-0 lead.
Denison-Schleswig’s Javier Medina (165) halted the Trojans’ momentum with a pin, and Anthony Arita added another fall, narrowing the gap to 22-12. However, Donovan Hedrington (190) responded with a quick pin for Atlantic. The Monarchs’ Evan Zavitz (215) answered with a fall of his own, reducing the deficit to 29-18.
From there, the Trojans dominated, closing out the dual with six consecutive victories. Evan Sorensen (285) won by fall, Keaton Schroeder (106) received a forfeit, and Collin Harris (113) earned a technical fall. Braxton Hass (120) and Landon Hagen (126) secured pins, while Carter Hadley (132) capped the performance with a decision, sealing a 61-18 win for Atlantic.
