(Glenwood) Glenwood knocked down 11 three point shots, and four players scored in double-figures leading to a 77-54 win over Atlantic in a Hawkeye Ten Conference boy’s basketball game at Glenwood on Tuesday.
Ayden Gibson led the Rams with 15-points, Collin Steele 11, Jack Johnson, and Evan Stanislav finished the night with 10-points each. Steele drained three from beyond the arc, Stanislav, Landon McGoldrick, Gibson, and Cole Staudt buried two each. Hunter Nelson led Atlantic with 12 -points, all four coming from three-point land. Kinnick Juhl, 9 points, Grant Petty, 8, Shelton Mualia, 7, Gage Gross, 6, Gavin McLaren 4, Reid Woodward, and Sawyer Tarrell, each scored three points, and Corbin Ritter, 2.
The Trojans kept it close early, trailing 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Rams extended its’ lead to 24-13 in the second frame, however, Atlantic answered with a 7-2 run, and narrowed the gap to 26-20. McGoldrick splashed down a buzzer-beating three-point shot to end the half pushing the Rams lead to 41-31. The Rams made seven three-point shots in the first half.
The Trojans cut the lead to seven points early in the second half, but the Rams soon gained a 53-42 lead at the end of the three quarters, and outscored the Trojans 24-12 in the frame to secure the 77-54 win.
Glenwood moves its record to 8-2, and travels to Shenandoah on Friday. Atlantic falls to 2-7, and hits the road again on Friday night at Kuemper.
