(Atlantic) Frigid temperatures are forecast for the coming days, and when the cold weather arrives this winter, many residents will turn to supplemental heat sources; despite having integrated heating systems that generally cover temperature control, many people turn to space heaters to warm those drafty spaces.
Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel says while space heaters can be helpful, they can also be dangerous.
Chief Cappel says to ensure the plug-in is grounded and shut off when leaving home.
Chief Cappel says don’t use any fuel-based supplemental heaters.
Cappel says house receptacles must be appropriately grounded so the space heater will automatically shut off if something goes wrong.
