(Lewis) Iowa Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Biologist John Lorenzen discussed the various licenses available for our Armed Forces Veterans in Saturday’s DNR report.
Lorenzen says Iowa’s annual hunting and fishing license for resident armed forces veterans is free for any Iowa resident who served in the armed forces for the U.S. on active federal duty.
Iowa’s lifetime hunting and fishing license for resident disabled veterans is given to anyone who served in the U.S. armed forces on active federal service, was disabled during service, or was a prisoner of war. This lifetime license is processed and mailed from Des Moines, so there is a one-time $7.00 processing fee, and those veterans will get a lifetime license. Additionally, a lifetime Trout license is available for resident veterans for a one-time cost of $65.00.
Lorenzen says interested veterans can visit the DNR website for application information or call or stop by the Cold Springs Office near Lewis.
