(Greenfield, IA) — Today (Monday) is the first official day of practice for Iowa High School boys basketball teams. Nodaway Valley will hit the court today with some hope — a new Head Coach and new attitude after a 3-19 record a year ago. The Wolverines will miss two graduating seniors especially Dawson Nelson who averaged 24.3 points per game plus Jacob Mangels (6.5 ppg) leaves as well. So it will have to be the sum of all the parts to pick up the slack in Greenfield this season.
Senior Ben Hoover (2.5 ppg) is one of four seniors on the team this year who is excited about the talent in the stable and its not just about the seniors
Senior Garrett Welsch (0.6 ppg) says the Wolverines can improve on the team’s average of 44.8 points per game and should also reduce turnovers which were 22.6 per game
Senior Christian Putney (0.6 ppg) likes some of the new things implemented this year
Senior Paul Berg (6.0 ppg) is the leading returning scorer for Nodaway Valley and he says the Wolverines have a number of young players that will get a chance to play and contribute including his brother
Nodaway Valley boys basketball will open their season on Tuesday, November 26 at Woodward Granger.
