(Atlantic) Atlantic School Board Secretary Lisa Jones provided information to the School Board Wednesday night on the District Enrollment Data.
Jones said the data shows 1,400.2 resident public students attending the district, that is the number of students that live in the Atlantic School District that physically attend there. There are 51 students who live in the District, but attend somewhere else. The Certified Enrollment for this upcoming year is 1,452.25.
Jones said the “butts in seats”, or the number of students the Atlantic School District actually educates, is 1,531.
Jones compared last year to this year.
Superintendent Dr. Beth Johnsen noted that their preschool numbers are down. Dr. Johnsen said they think it could be because Jack and Jill Preschool didn’t replace a classroom. They also think that families are unaware that preschool is free.
Full details on the Enrollment Data is located on the Department of Education website.
