(Pott Co.) Habitat for Humanity in Council Bluffs is branching out into rural areas of Pottawattamie County and one of the projects they are working on is housing in Minden.
The City of Minden was hit by an EF-3 tornado on April 26th.
Blake Johnson, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity, told the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday that through other partnerships, the City of Minden decided to write for the CDBG Disaster Relief Funds and part of that process was developers writing a RFP to act as the lead developer for the projects the City of Minden had in mind.
Johnson said those will be a little different than their typical project.
The homes will first be offered for purchase to anyone affected by the storm.
If awarded the grant, Johnson said they could break ground mid-spring.
