(Red Oak) Montgomery County Auditor Jill Ozuna reported a large voter turnout for the November 5 General Election.
During the board of supervisors canvassing portion of the meeting, Ozuna stated that 3,008 people voted at the polls on election day; 2,097 absentee ballots were counted in Montgomery County, and the county accepted one provisional ballot included in the absentee total. Ozuna reported a total voter turnout of 5,105, equating to 71.84 percent.
Before the supervisors approved the resolution, Ozuna read each individual race, including the tie-breaker in Grant Township between Dane Belt and Tony Johnson. The two names were placed in a hat, and Belt’s name was drawn to break the tie. Ozuna will send a letter to Mr. Belt to verify his acceptance.
The next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, November 19, at 8:30 a.m. at the Courthouse Board of Supervisor’s Meeting Room.
