(Harlan, IA) — Harlan will be a host for the Class 3A state qualifying cross country meet tonight — Head Coach Zach Klassen says this is the first time that Harlan has hosted the district meet. The girls will be one of the favorites — they are ranked #6 in Class 3A while Senior Lindsey Sonderman is ranked #2 individually. Klassen says she will be poised to have a good race
Klassen says that Freshman Ashlyn Rau has really come on this year and is currently ranked #19 in the state and Klassen is impressed with the way she has adapted to the high school courses
Other strong girls teams are number 5 Glenwood, number 12 ADM and number 17 North Polk. The top boys team in Harlan will be #8 Grinnell followed by #9 ADM, #15 Carlisle and #17 North Polk. The Cyclone boys are led by Erick Heslink who Klassen says has not been running 100 percent all season
Just like Atlantic, Harlan’s district will have the top 3 teams and top 15 individual runners go to the state tournament.
