(Audubon, IA) — In Class 1A, Region 5, Audubon visits Coon Rapids Bayard in a first round playoff match-up. The Crusaders beat the Wheelers 2-1 and all three sets were close in an early season match up — it was actually the first match of the year for both teams. Audubon Head Coach Brandi Gruhn says the teams will be completely different now.
Coon Rapids Bayard is led by Junior Malia Clayburg with 291 kills, 210 digs, 13 blocks and 29 aces on the year. Gruhn says their blockers will have to find her and put some hands in her face
While the wins haven’t come to Audubon like Gruhn had hoped, they have been competitive in most of their matches and she feels they have felt more and more confident
Harlow Miller leads the Wheelers with 319 kills, 57 blocks, 195 digs and 42 aces. Audubon will need her firing on all cylinders right from the get go and Gruhn is hoping for a good start tonight
8-21 Audubon visits Coon Rapids Bayard 19-5, first serve tonight at 7 pm. The winner meets either 13-9 St. Edmond or 9-13 Glidden Ralston on Wednesday night.
