(Oakland) Earlham and Riverside square off in a game with significant playoff implications on Friday night. ACGC is 5-0 in district play, and Earlham and Riverside are 3-1. Riverside Head Coach Darrell Frain says the winner gets the number 2 seed in the district and a first-round home game in the postseason.
Riverside’s rushing attack is solid with 1,810 yards, led by Jaxon Gordon’s 1,244 yards and 20 touchdowns. Gordon leads all of Class A in rushing and all-purpose yards with 1,570.
Earlham brings a solid run game to Riverside on Friday night. The Cardinals have rushed for 1,625 yards. Earlham can throw the football. Blake Reynolds is 46/74 for 651 yards.
Coach Frain says the Cardinal’s running game has opened up the passing attack. He says another concern is Earlham’s special teams’ play. They will onside-kick it.
Regarding turnovers, Riverside has forced six fumbles and seven interceptions. Earlham has ten fumble recoveries and five interceptions.
