(Ames) Inflation is cooling, and some grocery store prices are coming down. However, “Eggflation” is still around, with egg prices up 28 percent year over year, according to the US Labor Department. Maro Ibarburu, a research scientist at Iowa State University, says it is unclear when egg prices will come down, but they are unlikely to keep going up.
“In the next few months, I expect egg production to increase to the end of the year,” stated Ibarburu. “Normally, the highest months are in November and December. Both supply and demand are expected to increase from now until the end of the year.”
Ibarburu says it hasn’t been as bad in Iowa, the top egg producer in the U.S.
