(Creston) Creston broke into the win column last week with a 43-42 over Harlan. The Panthers piled up over 500 yards of total offense, with 470 yards coming from the ground game.
Panther’s Head Coach Brian Morrison talks about what the win over Harlan meant to his football team.
Creston running back Weston Trapp rushed for an impressive 447 yards on 40 carries and six touchdowns. Coach Morrison says Trapp is something special, along with running behind what Coach Morrison calls an improved Offensive line.
The Panthers field a young group of defensive players after losing nine starters one year ago. However, this young group held the Harlan ground game to under 100 yards last week. The Cyclones did go to the air quite frequently with 360 yards passing.
Creston faces an Atlantic squad tonight that brings a solid running game. The Trojans have rushed for 2,106 yards in their first six games, averaging 8.5 yards per carry. Coach Morrison is impressed with Tyson O’Brien, Brock Goodrich, and Gavin McLaren’s running and blocking abilities.
Coach Morrison says limiting the Trojan’s ability to put together long drives will be critical.
The passing game may also figure into this one. Atlantic quarterback Tristan Hayes has completed 51.4 percent of his passes for 383 yards and six touchdowns, while Creston quarterback Tanner Ray has completed 57 percent of his passes for 534 yards and four touchdowns.
The kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. The broadcast will be on 95.7 F.M., and the live video streamed will be on westerniowatoday.com TV.
