(Iowa City, IA) — The Iowa Hawkeyes enter the bye week coming off their best performance — a 31-14 win at Minnesota. It still wasn’t a complete game for Iowa but it turned into a complete victory. Kaleb Johnson ran for a career high 206 yards and 3 TD — he now has 685 yards which leads the country by 99 yards over Ashton Jeanty of Boise St. His 9 rushing TD is 2nd behind Dylan Sampson of Tennessee.
Meanwhile, the passing game was not a factor on Saturday, largely because Iowa was running it against the Gophers. Cade McNamara was 11-19 passing for just 62 yards but Iowa Offensive Coordinator Tim Lester says it was one of his better games
One of the areas that Head Coach Kirk Ferentz has emphasized is finishing off drives with touchdowns and not field goals. Lester says that is an area that is improving
Iowa has two weeks to prepare for their next challenge, visiting #3 Ohio St. on Saturday October 5.
