(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved consent to extend division of revenue in the urban renewal area for the City of Atlantic to complete the Camblin Hills Subdivision project from 10 years to 15 years.
Earlier this year, the Atlantic City Council approved the transfer of 41 acres of city-owned property to Vision Atlantic, a 501(c)(3) organization for $1.00. The property is located in the southeast Urban Renewal District. Vision Atlantic, through extensive research and surveying of the community and surrounding region, identified three areas that will help increase Atlantic’s population: expanded childcare, quality housing and quality of life amenities.
Christina Bateman, Vision Atlantic President, told the Supervisors that the Lakin Foundation has transferred 23-million dollars into a fund for the City of Atlantic to use to build housing and essential commercial development.
Bateman also noted that they are doing TIF to help pay for the infrastructure, estimated around 4.1 million.
Bid letting for land infrastructure will begin this fall, with construction of all three projects slated to begin late spring of 2025.
