(Des Moines) Congressman Zach Nunn has introduced a bill to strengthen law enforcement’s ability to combat financial fraud. They will focus on the “pig butchering” scam, which preys on investors with fake opportunities. The proposed legislation aims to provide federal grant funding to state and local agencies to help resolve these cases more effectively. Last year, financial fraud in Iowa resulted in losses of 42 point six million dollars, with a national total of 300 million dollars in stolen funds. The committee will soon discuss the bill, which has bipartisan support.
