(Iowa City) Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz and wide receivers coach Jon Budmayr will reportedly be suspended for one game due to a recruiting violation related to the pursuit of quarterback Cade McNamara in 2022. The violation was connected to contact with McNamara before the transfer portal opened that year and is currently under NCAA investigation. It’s unclear if the suspension comes from Iowa or the NCAA. After playing four years at the University of Michigan, Cade McNamara committed to Iowa on December 1, 2022. Kirk Ferentz will address the media at 1:30 p.m. today.
