(Red Oak) Montgomery County Emergency Management Coordinator Brian Hamman provided the Board of Supervisors with an update from the May 2024 Tornado and Storms update.
Hamman says FEMA individual assistance is still available through mid-August for residents and landowners affected by the May 23 and 24th storm events. He says 36 residents have applied for assistance.
Hamman says Hacklebarney Woods Park has suffered extensive damage. The park is the largest managed by the Montgomery County Conservation Board and offers two campgrounds, one lake, one pond, three picnic areas, one picnic shelter, and six miles of hiking/equestrian trails.
Hamman says one of the main issues is that the communication tower was destroyed by the tornado. The tower’s footings were damaged during its removal. The LP Tank, generator, and shelter were unaffected.
The Supervisors moved to authorize Emergency Management to be the agent to sign off on the items listed in his report.
