(Des Moines, IA) ESPN Events released the eight-team field playing in the 2024 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic. Drake, Florida Atlantic, Miami (FL), Nevada, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, Vanderbilt, and VCU will all be competing in the annual men’s college basketball tournament on November 21, 22 and 24 at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.
FAU, Nevada and Drake all made the NCAA tournament last year with VCU and Seton hall receiving invites to the National Invitation Tournament where Seton Hall were crowned NIT champions. Miami, Oklahoma State and Seton Hall are familiar with the tournament and making the return to Charleston. The Miami Hurricanes were crowned champions of the tournament in 2014.
It will be a good test for the Bulldogs under new head coach Ben McCollum who was named the Drake head basketball coach earlier this year after the departure of Darian DeVries who is now the head basketball coach at West Virginia.
Matchups, times, and ESPN platform designations for games will be announced at a later date.
Owned and operated by ESPN Events, the Shriners Children’s Hospital Classic is in its 16th year. Past Classic champions include Houston (2023), College of Charleston (2022), St. Bonaventure (2021), and Florida (2020).
