(Ames, IA) – Former Iowa State Cyclone, Melvin Ejim, has been named to the Team Canada for men’s basketball for the Paris Olympics, taking place from July 26 to August 11. Ejim is the third former Iowa State player to qualify for the Olympics, joining Tyrese Haliburton (USA) and George Conditt IV (Puerto Rico). Ejim played for Iowa State from 2010 to 2014, while Haliburton and Conditt IV were teammates in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Team Canada, part of Group A, will face Greece on July 27, Australia on July 30, and Spain on August 2 during the Olympic tournament’s group phase in Lille, France. The knockout and medal rounds will be held in Paris.
Ejim has a history with Team Canada, having played in the 2013 World University Games, the 2015 Pan American Games, the Tuto Marchand Cup, the FIBA Americas Championship, and the 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament. He was also part of the Canadian team that won bronze at the FIBA World Cup last summer.
